AZ LTAP owns two retroreflectometers, a Road Vista Model 922 Handheld with GPS capability, and a Stripe Master 2 Touch Retroreflectometer that we loan free of charge to contributing member agencies. An extension pole is used to extend the operators reach an additional nine feet and includes a remote trigger with digital display, allowing the operator to take multiple readings without having to retract the pole each time.
Program Policies
How to Borrow Equipment
- AZ LTAP will take requests from agencies by phone at 602.712.4050 or by email at [email protected] on a first-come, first-served basis. Agencies will be required to provide an estimated length of use (a maximum of two weeks) and a schedule to pick up and return the equipment. Because the retroreflectometer is worth approximately $15,000, normal shipping will not be permitted. Arrangements will need to be made for agencies to pick up the device, for LTAP to deliver the device, or some combination of these. A waitlist will be maintained for each piece of equipment on loan and equipment will be available to the next agency on the list upon its return. Each agency is responsible for returning the equipment to AZ LTAP. A late fee of $25 per day will be assessed if not returned on time.
- To borrow AZ LTAP's retroreflectometer, simply complete the Equipment Loan Agreement form and send it via email to [email protected] to reserve it on the calendar. Handwritten submissions will not be accepted.
Proper Use and Handling
The borrowing agency is responsible for using adequate care and appropriate handling of the equipment to prevent wear and damage. Borrowers must follow all manufacturer guidelines and recommended safety procedures when using the equipment. When the equipment is not in use, it must be stored in a secure and locked location to prevent theft or damage. Due to high value of the devices, the agency will be required to reimburse AZ LTAP if reported lost or stolen. Agencies are also expected to cover expenses related to obvious physical damage to the equipment.
Late Returns Fee
A late fee of $25 per day accrues to the borrowing agency for each day beyond the agreed upon return date.
Damages Fee
The borrowing agency is responsible for reimbursing AZ LTAP for 50% of the cost to repair or replace the equipment if any parts/attachments are damaged while in the agency's care. If the equipment cannot be repaired and AZ LTAP must purchase a whole new piece of equipment, the borrowing agency must reimburse AZ LTAP for the full replacement cost of the equipment.
Lost/Stolen Fee
If an item is stolen, the borrowing agency is required to file a police report and to provide a copy of that report and any other related documentation to AZ LTAP.
If an item is lost, the borrowing agency is responsible for 100% of the replacement cost since the equipment is required to be stored in a secure storage location (see Proper Use and Handling).
A signature is required from the borrowing agency at the time of delivery/receipt recognizing the AZ LTAP borrowing policies and terms.
